Playoff Formats and Season Structure

The following describes Divisions with an 8 game overall season.  Just look for how many teams are in your division and this will give the Regular Season and Playoff Format.

Many times the semi-final and Championship games will be on the same day and played as a doubleheader.

4 Team Division

 

Regular Season = 6 games (every team plays other team twice) (12+4=16) (6W+1-2W)

Playoffs = All 4 teams make playoffs.  

3rd Place Game = Losers of Game 1 vs Losers of Game 2

4 Team Seeded Single Elimination Tournament Bracket

 

5 Team Division (avoid if possible)

Regular Season= 8 Games (every team plays other team twice) (20+1=21) (10w+1w)

Playoffs = Top 2 teams play in Championship Game.

6 Team Division

 

Regular Season= 7 games (unbalanced schedule). (21+4=25) (7w+1/2)

Playoffs = Top 4 teams make playoffs.  Bottom 2 teams play in consolation.

7 Team Division

Regular Season = 6 games (Play each team once) (21+8=29) (7w+2/3)

Playoffs = All teams make playoffs.

Consolation = Losers of (Game 4 vs Game 2) and Losers of (Game 1 vs Game 3)

Regular Season = 8 games (36+3=39) (9w+1/2)

Playoffs Top 4 teams.

Regular Season = 7 games (unbalanced regular season)

Playoffs Top 8 teams, Bottom 2 teams get a consolation game.

Playoffs Top 4 teams.

Regular Season = 6 games

Playoffs= Week 7- All teams play Seed 1 v Seed 14 (Becomes Seed 1W and Seed 7L), Seed 2 v Seed 13 (Becomes Seed 2W and Seed6L), Seed 3 v Seed 12 (Becomes Seed 3W and Seed 5L), etc

Week 8 We have a Winners Bracket( A) and Losers Bracket(B).   Both Brackets are as below.  Both the winner and loser move into the Seed Position above in ().

Regular season = 7 games

The top 7 teams are in the A Division Playoffs and the Bottom 7 teams are in the B division Playoffs

All 18 Teams Make the Playoffs

Week 1 Decides if you Make the A divison or the B Division

1st place vs 18th place Winner is A Seed 1 and loser is B Seed 9
2nd place vs 17th place Winner is A Seed 3 and loser is B Seed 8
etc

There will then be 9 A seeds and 9 B Seeds 

Each Division will then be single Elimination as below
