Forfeits
- Games should start promptly at the published game times. There is a fifteen (15) minute grace period before the game is abandoned. If one team does not have seven (7) players dressed and ON THE FIELD at fifteen (15) minutes after gametime that team shall forfeit the game. The team must maintain 7 players on the field.
- A team that forfeits their game loses two points in the standings and will be assessed a fine of $50. The league can waive this depending on notice and circumstances.
- If a team gives notice to the league at baslopensoccer@gmail.com and email/phone the other captain at least 48 hours before their game than the above penalties will not apply. Captains information will be provided at the captains meeting or by email request.
- A team that forfeits two games in a season will have their case reviewed by the league to determine what further sanctions should happen.
- A team that forfeits due to lost passes that has 11 players at the game will only be assessed a loss.
- A game is considered complete once it has reached the half (Examples lights going out, rain etc). During playoffs there might be exceptions if the league can arrange for rest of the game to be played.
Cards
- A player receiving three yellow cards in a season MUST sit his next game or pay a $20 fine. A player receiving 5 yellow cars MUST sit his next game and is not eligible to pay the fine to play in that game. This is the Captains responsibility. Do not go by the website. If your player has had 3 yellow cards make sure he sits and have the ref or field marshal take note you are not playing said player. A forfeit will be awarded if playing with an ineligible player.
- A player receiving a red card MUST sit his next game (No appeals of Red Cards will be heard only the length of suspension beyond one game). If the website is not updated or is incorrect the onus is on the captain to make sure his player sits and it get marked down on the roster.
- A player receiving 2 yellow cards in a single game automatically results in a red card. The player is ejected from the current game and must sit their next game. The player is not eligible to pay the fine to play in that next game.
- If a player receives two direct red cards he must sit a minimum of 5 games or rest of the season, whichever is longer.
- Once a player receives a red card his case will be reviewed. Within 24 hours of receiving a red card please send a email to baslopensoccer@gmail.com describing the incident and contact information for both the captain and the player. As a general rule we are looking at 3-5 games suspension for ref abuse or fighting. More if it is a second offense or player is on probation.
- Striking a ref – Out for the year. Spitting on a ref is considered an Assault.
- All appeals should be directed to the BASL Board of Directors who may or may not choose to hear the case. Beyond that FSSA can be appealed to.
- Once the regular season is over, all players enter the playoffs with a clean slate. However a player that receives a third yellow (or 5th) or red card in his last game must sit out his next game even if it is a playoff game.
